How Zipper Host works
Hosting with a real control panel. Apps, domains, SSL, and backups.
Zipper Host
Zipper Host is web hosting on the Zipper edge with a real control panel — the Zipper panel. Sites and apps are served through the same edge that runs Zipper itself: custom domains with one-click SSL, visitor analytics, uptime probes, scheduled jobs, and paid nightly backups, all from one place.
Every account starts with a panel site. Sign in and the panel opens on the Overview tab — everything else hangs off the tab strip at the top. See the panel tour below, or jump straight to agents and resellers if you are here to resell hosting under your own brand.
The Zipper panel
The panel is the control surface for one site. Tabs, and what each one does:
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Overview | Site health, domain state, and quick actions at a glance. |
| Files | Browse and edit your site files directly in the browser. |
| Apps | Deploy Next.js, React, and Angular apps — SSR or static — with build logs, restarts, and stop/start. |
| Domains | Connect custom domains, watch DNS point correctly, and bind a domain to the site. |
| Edge & SSL | One-click SSL certificates, issued and renewed on the Zipper edge. |
| Backups | Paid add-on: nightly snapshots of your files with one-click restore. |
| Analytics | Visitor analytics for the site — hits, pages, and referrers. |
| Uptime | Uptime probes with incident history when something goes down. |
| Databases | Sealed tables for the site — typed columns, instant rows, Studio-style grid. Up to 10 databases per site. |
| Real Zipper Mail mailboxes in your workspace — create one and send and receive immediately, no domain needed. A custom domain with one-click MX, SPF, and DMARC is an optional upgrade. | |
| Data | The Coffer — shared key-value storage and feature flags your app and edge code read in milliseconds. |
| Schedules | Recurring jobs — Cronwerk schedules for maintenance tasks. |
| Agency | Your agent/reseller account: brand, markups, customers, and API keys. |
Apps & deploys
The Apps tab runs your app on the Zipper deploy engine. Pick a framework — Next.js, React, or Angular — in SSR or static mode, deploy, and watch the build log while it runs. A finished SSR app gets a live port; you can restart, stop, or redeploy at any time, and a failed build shows its error instead of failing silently.
Domains & SSL
Add a custom domain on the Domains tab and point DNS at the Zipper edge — the panel shows whether the record has propagated yet. When it has, bind the domain to the site. SSL is one-click on the Edge & SSL tab: certificates are issued for bound domains and renewed automatically on the edge.
Backups, analytics & uptime
Backups are a paid add-on: nightly snapshots of your site's files with one-click restore (current files are archived before anything is restored). Analytics shows visitor traffic, and Uptime runs probes against your site with an incident history when something goes down. Schedules runs recurring maintenance jobs.
Agents — resell hosting under your own brand
An agent account lets you sell hosting to your own customers. You set the brand, set your prices, and provision customers from one place — while all the infrastructure stays with Zipper Host. Your customers sign in to a panel that carries your brand.
Open an agent account
- Sign in to zipperhost.com and open the Zipper panel.
- Go to the Agency tab and register: your brand name, an optional brand domain, and a plan.
- Your markup table is seeded from the plan and stays fully editable per service afterwards.
| Plan | Seeded default markup |
|---|---|
| Starter | +$3.00 on domain registration |
| Growth | +$2.00 on domain registration |
| Partner | +$1.00 on domain registration |
Domain search, DNS records, and SSL certificates carry no default markup — the base prices are Zipper Host list prices, and whatever you add above them is your margin. Every quoted operation is recorded in your margin ledger, viewable in the Agency tab.
Provision a customer
In the Agency tab, add a customer with their email and name. Zipper Host creates their account and a dedicated panel site white-labeled to your brand in one step, and hands you a one-time password to pass on. The customer signs in and sees your brand; you keep the relationship and the margin.
Resellers — the agent API
The same account, driven over the API. Register from the Agency tab (or the endpoint below), issue API keys, and automate provisioning for your own storefront or billing system.
Authentication
Keys look like zhk_… and are shown exactly once when issued — only their hash is stored. Send one as a bearer token: Authorization: Bearer zhk_…. Revoking a key cuts off access immediately, and each key's last use is tracked. One agent account exists per Zipper user.
Endpoints
POST/api/v1/agent/register
Register your agent account — brand name, optional brand domain, plan. Requires a signed-in session.
GET/api/v1/agent/account
Read your agent account: brand, plan, and status.
GET/api/v1/agent/keys
List API keys — prefix, label, created, last used.
POST/api/v1/agent/keys
Issue a new API key. The plaintext is shown once; only its hash is stored.
DELETE/api/v1/agent/keys?id=…
Revoke a key immediately.
GET/api/v1/agent/markup
Your pricing table: base price, your markup, your price, and margin per service.
PATCH/api/v1/agent/markup
Update markups per service (cents) — configurable, never hardcoded.
GET/api/v1/agent/customers
List customer accounts you have provisioned.
POST/api/v1/agent/customers
Provision a customer: creates the account and a white-labeled panel site in one step.
Pricing & margin
Services are quoted as Zipper Host list price plus your markup, in cents: domain_search, domain_registration, dns_records, and ssl_certificate. You set the markup per service; the difference between your price and the list price is your margin, recorded per operation in the ledger. Suspended agent accounts lose key access immediately.
